Vehicle seizure:

There is different reasons for seizure of a vehicule for 7, 30, or 90 days including these:

1. The driver’s licence has been suspended or revoked.
2. The driver does not hold a valid driver’s licence or does not hold a licence of the appropriate class for the vehicle being driven.
3. The driver has not abided by the obligation to drive only a vehicle equipped with an alcohol ignition interlock device or has failed to abide by the terms and conditions of use of the device.
4. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drug under certain conditions and in the case of a repeat offense.
5. The driver omits or refuses to comply with an order of the police officer given under the Criminal code.
6. The driver is pulled over for excessive speeding.

9. The driver is driving a heavy vehicle after having been prohibited from doing so by the Commission des transports du Québec (CTQ).

Got a Log Book ticket in Quebec:

Incorrectly filled daily log;
Not respecting the off duty time;
Other daily log offences;

Daily log:
A driver must fill out a daily log listing all hours of driving, on-duty time other than
driving, and off-duty time. The starting time of the log is also the beginning of the day..

If the driver fills out a daily log, the following documents must be kept in the vehicle:
• a copy of the daily logs from the 14 previous days;
• the daily log for the current day, completed up to the time of the last change of
duty status;
• Documents related to the trip, for example, fuel receipts, bills of lading and
delivery receipts.

TABLE OF OFFENCES WITH THEIR WEIGHTING

The following list indicates all of the sections of the Highway Safety Code (HSC) or the Criminal Code (CC) considered in assessing the conduct of HVOOs. They are grouped together according to who is responsible (the operator or the owner) and the seriousness of the associated offence (the number of points assigned).

Be vigilant and avoid being double penalized!
Did you know that the same infraction can result in demerit points and PEVL and CVL points being recorded.
EX: A ticket for illegal use of a cell phone or portable device referred to in article 443.1 of the CSR automatically results in the registration of 5 demerit points on your personal driving record and 3 PEVL points and 5 CVL points to your file related to heavy vehicles.
