Heavy vehicle owner, operator or driver (PEVL and CVL): avoid being penalized twice
Did you know that a single ticket can result in both demerit points and PEVL and CVL points?
For example, a conviction for the illegal use of a cellphone or handheld device under section 443.1 of the Quebec Highway Safety Code will automatically result in demerit points on your personal driving record and PEVL or CVL points on your heavy vehicle record.
It is also important to know that a ticket that carries no “regular” demerit points has different consequences for heavy vehicle drivers.
For example, a ticket for a yellow light carries no demerit points, but results in 3 PEVL or CVL points on your heavy vehicle record.
Trucker or fleet owner? Don’t wait until it’s too late.
