What happens if I pay my statement of offence?

What happens if I pay my statement of offence?

Paying your statement of offence is the same as pleading guilty. The file is then closed: you can no longer contest it, and the demerit points attached to the offence are recorded on your driving record with the SAAQ.

Depending on the number of points accumulated, this can lead to a penalty, such as the suspension of your licence, and can increase the cost of your insurance.

IMPORTANT: if you are thinking of contesting, do not pay. Instead, send your plea of not guilty within the time limit indicated on the statement of offence, or entrust your file to us.
